Cecilia Morel Montes, First Lady of Chile

Cecilia is the fourth child of seven children, consisting of upper-class marriage of the Engineer Eduardo Montes Paulina Morel Chaigneau and Brunet, sister of Hugo Montes Brunet. Her mother, housewife, attended the Red Cross is dedicated to volunteerism. Cecilia extended the studies in the College Jeanne D’Arc de Santiago de Chile, the same where her mother and grandmother attended.

At the age of 19 years she began the courtship (dating) with Sebastián Piñera, who was her neighbor in the Avenida Américo Vespucio, in the eastern sector of Santiago. They married in December 1973 and the couple subsequently moved to the United States where Pinera studied economics. The couple has four children: Magdalena, Cecilia, Juan Sebastian and Christopher.

In 1972, she started study nursing at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Her studies had to suspend her marriage to stay abroad and return home to re-register in Nursing, and studied and worked until the birth of her second daughter, Cecilia. She missed a semester to finish the race.

Later she joined the Professional Institute Carlos Casanueva, where she graduated with a degree in family and youth counselor. She also holds a degree in Family and Human Relations.

In 1989, along with professionals from Instituto Carlos Casanueva (Enrique Cueto), she founded what later became “The House of Youth”, with the task of educating young Conchalí through workshops to personal growth and development.
