Madam Zineb Jammeh, First Lady of Gambia
Madam Zineb Jammeh, the wife of the President of the Republic of The Gambia was born in Rabat, Morocco on the 5th October 1977 to Ambassador Soumah, a well respected career diplomat from the distinguished Guinean Soumah family and Mrs. Soumah who hails from Morocco.
Madam Jammeh was married to the Gambian President, Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh in December 1998 and the marriage is currently blessed with a beautiful daughter, Maryam.
Madam Jammeh who holds a Diploma in International Systems and Management is currently involved in an extremely busy career as the Gambia’s beloved First Lady.
Madam Jammeh’s Special Duties include the running of the Foundation For Women Socio- Economic Advancement (FOWSEA) – A Subsidiary of The Jammeh Foundation for Peace as the President of this laudable charity.
Madam Jammeh is also the Chief Patron of several worthy charities which include but are not limited to, the Gambian Chapter of the Forum for Women Educationists (FAWEGAM) and Operation Save-a-Baby, a charity devoted to providing assistance to needy new born infants.
Madam Jammeh is also involved in the provision of medical assistance to Hospitals and Community Centres (Medications and much needed medical equipment such as Incubators, etc.)
She is heavily involved in raising funds to provide scholarship packages to young children and Adolescents from under-priviledged backgrounds. She is also active in the promotion of Adult Literacy programmes as she is in providing agricultural and development assistance to women and youths as well as loan packages to help them establish businesses.
Internationally, Madam Jammeh, as the wife of President Jammeh who is one of Africa’s foremost Champion of Peace, is an active member of the African First Ladies Peace Mission.
Her hobbies include Reading, Horse-Riding, Music and Travelling.
