Erzsébet Sólyom, First Lady of Hungary
Erzsébet Sólyom (b. Nagy) was born into an intellectual family with 4 children, in Budapest. In 1963 she took her final examination at Secondary School of Arts of Pécs, musical section. Then she studied at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest and got her degree in Hungarian language, literature and psychology.
In 1966 she married László Sólyom, whom she met at the Conservatory of Pécs where both of them studied. Their son is an architect, father of 5 children. Their daughter, mother of 6 children, got her degree in German and Hungarian language and literature.
Erzsébet Sólyom has worked as teacher of Hungarian language and literature in different schools, last time at Bartók Béla Conservatory in Budapest.
She has never lost contact with arts: is interested especially in music, fine arts and literature. Just like her husband, she is very fond of hiking; they take their grandchildren for walking tours.
Erzsébet Sólyom, as wife of the President of the Republic of Hungary, wishes to help to improve the conditions of large families.
